Sunday 23rd July 1:30pm, 17 mile off-road ride

2 Star off-road ride – steady pace, with climbs and probably mud. Suitable for regular riders with some technical skills, a mountain bike is recommended.

Saturday 15th July 1:30pm, 34 mile road ride

3 Star road ride – quicker pace. Suitable for experienced riders, may be hilly, long, quick, or any combination!

Route: Out through Cuxham, Clare Hill and Chalgrove to a tea stop at the Crazy Bear. Returning via Chiselhampton, Clifton Hampden and Cholsey.

Sunday 2nd July 1:30pm, 12 mile introductory road ride

1 Star road ride – gentle place, generally flat. Suitable for beginners, occasional riders, and families.

Route: Out via Preston Crowmarsh, Benson and Roke to a tea stop at Ewelme Watercress Beds. Returning via Benson. The ride will be preceded by a Dr Bike event in the Market Place with free safety checks and basic maintenance from 11:00am.

Sunday 25th June 8:00am, Oxfordshire Century (100-mile) Ride

Whole day road ride – a challenge, organised by Cycling UK Oxfordshire. Suitable for experienced riders with good levels of fitness and stamina, it will be hilly, long, and ideally enjoyable!

  • Start time: 8:00 am
  • Start location: Wallingford Market Place
  • Ride time: Approx 12 hours including three refreshment stops

Route: This year’s Cycling UK Oxfordshire Century ride will start from Wallingford and take us through two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Chiltern Hills and the North Wessex Downs. This is a led ride at a touring pace with tea, lunch and coffee stops along the way; we will aim to cover 100 miles in about 11 hours.

There’ll also be a 50 mile ride, initially following the same route then returning to Wallingford after the morning coffee break.

Note there is free all-day parking in the Goldsmiths Lane long-stay car park behind the Market Place. Please let Steve know if you are planning to join us by Thursday 22 June as we need numbers for the refreshment stops.

Route: A chess-themed ride, the opening gambit and endgame will become apparent as we move around the board. There’ll be hills, a tea stop, and an opportunity to resign after 25 miles.
